Peter is een Harvard student, die toe is aan iets nieuws in zijn leven en ook graag wat geld zou willen verdienen. Hij krijgt de opdracht van drugsdealer John om een lading marihuana van Californië naar Boston te vervoeren. Onderweg ontmoet Peter Susan, een hippie, waar hij stapelverliefd op begint te worden. Susan besluit om Peter te helpen om niet gepakt te worden, maar dan gooit de corrupte politieagent Murphy roet in het eten.
